At Bosco del Merlo begins the harvest in 2016

The  2016 harvest began on August, the 30th starting with the white varieties to produce the Paladin and Bosco del Merlo wines. 2016 will be a positive vintage for white wines, such as Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, which are reaching during these days the perfect maturity. Red grapes, such as Merlot, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Cabernet require another month to reach the optimal phenolic maturity, thank to stable weather and good temperature range between night and day during September.

Our agronomist and oenologist Stefano Saderi states: “we start the harvest with perfect climate conditions: good weather and mild temperature of August have facilitated a slow grapes maturation, with  good acidity and sugar content. 2016 has been characterized by heavy rainfall during May and June,  which forced to different interventions in order to slow down the excessive vigor of the plant and establish its microclimate, permitting the right development of the grapes.

The plant to plant approach expresses its importance especially in vintages like this one.

Particularly during the harvest time, to achieve the excellence, an optimal subdivision inside each vineyard permits to divide the production and to obtain the better from each specific plant.

Following this approach, we start the harvest from grapes picked early, to enhance some aromatic features of this phase of maturity; they will be blended with grapes harvested later, to valorize the structure and body of the wines. Thanks to this approach, we obtain great structure, elegance and quality.

First sample analysis demonstrate aromatic grapes with a good acidic structure, which testify a good longevity of wines with great minerality and sapidity
